Frequently Asked Questions

How do I restore my subscription?

If you've previously purchased a subscription, go to More → Settings → Restore Purchases in the app. This will restore your subscription on your current device. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

What subscription options are available?

Root Notes Premium offers two options:

  • Monthly - $6.99/month, cancel anytime
  • Yearly - $49.99/year (save 40%)

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone/iPad
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Select Root Notes
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription

You'll continue to have access until the end of your current billing period.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are processed by Apple, not by us directly. To request a refund:

  1. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID
  3. Find the Root Notes purchase
  4. Select "Request a refund"

Why is there no sound?

If you're not hearing audio:

  • Check that your device isn't on silent mode (check the side switch)
  • Make sure your volume is turned up
  • If using Bluetooth headphones, ensure they're properly connected
  • Try closing and reopening the app
  • Restart your device if the issue persists

How do I sync my progress across devices?

To sync your progress:

  1. Create an account or sign in (Settings → Account)
  2. Your progress will automatically sync when connected to the internet
  3. Sign in with the same account on your other devices

How do I delete my account?

To delete your account and all associated data:

  1. Go to More → Settings in the app
  2. Scroll down and tap Delete Account
  3. Confirm your decision

This action is permanent and cannot be undone. Your subscription (if any) should be cancelled separately through Apple.

What's included in the free version?

The free version includes:

  • Basic ear training exercises
  • Beginner music theory courses
  • Limited daily practice sessions

Premium unlocks all courses, unlimited practice, AI assistant, and advanced features.

What are AI Credits?

AI Credits power the AI Assistant feature, which provides personalized explanations, weakness analysis, and music theory help. Each AI question uses one credit. You can purchase credit packs separately from your subscription:

  • 10 Credits - $0.99
  • 50 Credits - $3.99 (Best Value)
  • 100 Credits - $6.99

Premium subscribers receive some free credits monthly, but can purchase additional packs anytime.

How do I redeem a promo code?

If you have a promo code:

  1. Go to More → Settings in the app
  2. Tap Redeem Promo Code
  3. Enter your code and tap Redeem

The benefits (such as AI Credits) will be added to your account immediately.

Does the app work offline?

Yes! Most features work offline, including:

  • All ear training exercises
  • Downloaded courses
  • Practice sessions

An internet connection is required for syncing progress, AI features, and account management.

Which devices are supported?

Root Notes requires:

  • iPhone or iPad
  • iOS 17.0 or later
